On Wednesday, the Supreme Court rejected the anticipatory bail application of a man who had 24 grams of Heroin and Brown sugar in possession with him.

"This Heroin and all is destroying the country. We cannot be a party to this", Division Bench of Justices MR Shah and CT Ravikumar remarked, when the matter came up for hearing.
The Bench did not budge even when the Advocate for the petitioner pointed out that he had been in jail for about 9 to 10 months.
"9 months? You should be in jail for 10 years. Minimum sentence is 10 years", Justice Shah was quick to comment.
"It is ruining the youth of the country", Justice Ravikumar added to the narrative before moving to the next matter.
Last month, while dealing with a similar matter, a Bench headed by Justice Shah observed that "the drug-problem is increasing in Punjab" and slammed the state government for its inaction regarding the issue of large-scale manufacture and sale of illicit liquor in the state.
"The Youth will be finished. Illegal manufacture of alcohol and drugs should be stopped. It is very unfortunate that this is happening. That too, who is the sufferer? Poor people, who cannot afford...That is why there is 'spirit' and all these things because it is very cheap", the Bench had said in that hearing.
