Senior Advocate Adish Aggarwala Moves Supreme Court Challenging SCBA Election Results 2025

Senior Advocate Dr Adish C Aggarwala, who had contested for the post of President of the Supreme Court Bar Association, has filed an application in the Supreme Court challenging the SCBA 2025 election results on the ground of alleged irregularities.Aggarwala mentioned the matter before a bench led by Justice Surya Kant today, saying that about 200 additional votes were polled illegally.Justice Surya Kant said that the matter can be considered only by a Special Bench comprising himself and Justice KV Viswanathan (which has been passing orders in relation to SCBA elections)."Wait for special bench…find out when J Viswanathan is sitting, I will sit in that week. There is no question of listing today. Heavens won't fall," Justice Kant said.Aggarwala said a "person who is not entitled to be President" has been elected. Senior Advocate Vikas Singh was elected as the President of the SCBA in the results announced on May 20."If we are satisfied, we will set aside the election. File an application, give to other side. Supported by affidavit," Justice Kant said.Aggarwala, who was the President during the 2023-2024 term, secured 683 votes, and Vikas Singh, who got elected as the SCBA President for the fourth time, got 1,047 votes in the elections. In the application, Aggarwala alleged that election commissioner, Senior Advocate Mahalakshmi Pavani campaigned for Singh. He also alleged that the total number of votes polled are higher than the total number of slips issued by the election officers as well as higher than the total number of the ballot papers issued by the election officers.He alleged that there were several discrepancies and fraud in the election process. He further alleged that Vikas Singh sent emails beyond the time allowed for campaigning.
