The Supreme Court of India has notified the Advocates-on-Record (AOR) Examination for December 2026, with the examination scheduled to be held in New Delhi on December 19, 20, 22 and 23, 2026.

The notification, issued by the Registrar (J) and Secretary, Board of Examiners, AOR Examination, states that the examination will be conducted under Rules 5(i) and (ii) of Order IV of the Supreme Court Rules, 2013, read with Regulation 2 of the Regulations regarding Advocates-on-Record Examination.

The December 2026 examination is open to candidates who are eligible to re-appear under Regulations 11(i) or 11(ii) of the AOR Examination Regulations, including candidates seeking to avail themselves of the opportunity arising from the results of the June 2025 AOR Examination.

Applications to be submitted by October 15

The notification states that duly filled-in applications must be submitted to the AOR Examination Cell at Room No. 308, 3rd Floor, B-Block, Administrative Buildings Complex, Supreme Court of India, New Delhi, during office hours from October 1 to October 15, 2026.

Applications will be accepted up to 5 PM on October 15, 2026. The Registry has also prescribed the format of the application form and accompanying instructions/guidelines.

The prescribed AOR examination fee is ₹750, which is to be paid online.

Four papers to be conducted

The AOR Examination will comprise four papers:

1. Practice and Procedure of the Supreme Court

2. Drafting

3. Advocacy and Professional Ethics

4. Leading Cases - Refer to Notice III

The examination will be conducted through pen and paper mode only.
