'Grievous Misconduct' : SCBA Condemns Lawyer's Misbehaviour Against Senior Advocate Gaurav Bhatia In District Court; Calls For Action

The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) has sternly condemned the misconduct of a lawyer in the Gautam Budh Nagar district court against Senior Advocate Gaurav Bhatia.The incident, which involved the snatching of the band of the senior counsel, has sparked outrage leading to the SCBA's executive committee issuing a statement of condemnation on Wednesday, March 20.In its statement, the committee has detailed the events that are alleged to have unfolded at the court of the District and Sessions Judge, Gautam Budh Nagar. According to the statement, Bhatia was present at the court to appear in a matter. However, upon his arrival, he was informed by the office bearers of the Gautam Budh Nagar Bar Association that they had called for a strike that day, thus no court-related work would be conducted.Despite Bhatia's readiness to adjourn the matter, a lawyer present inside the courtroom reportedly misbehaved and snatched the band of the senior advocate.This act of aggression in the presence of the district judge has been strongly condemned by the SCBA as 'unprofessional' and 'illegal'.Expressing its deep concern over the incident, the Supreme Court Bar Association has said that such behaviour “brings disrepute to the entire legal fraternity.”Not only this, but it has also urged the executive committee of the Janpad Dewani and Faujdari Bar Association Gautam Budh Nagar to swiftly identify the lawyer involved, issue a notice to the individual, and take stringent action against them.The resolution reads, "The Supreme Court Bar Association takes cognizance of this grevious misconduct by a lawyer present inside the Court room and strongly condemns such unprofessional and illegal act undertaken by the concerned advocate as it brings disrepute to the entire legal fraternity. The Supreme Court Bar Association urges the Executive Committee of Janpad Dewani and Faujdari Bar Association Gautam Budh Nagar to identify the said lawyer, put him to notice and take strict against the concerned lawyer."The incident has garnered attention on social media platforms, with Gaurav Bhatia's name trending on Twitter as reports of the clash circulated widely.The senior advocate shared SCBA's latest statement on the microblogging platform 'X' (formerly known as 'Twitter)', with a Hindi caption translated as “Advocates will sacrifice their life for the advocate fraternity. But if someone touches their band, they will not tolerate it.”
