The Supreme Court on Tuesday directed the State of Gujarat to maintain status quo with regards to eviction over 10,000 slum dwellers in the State.
The order for maintenance of status quo was passed by the division bench of Chief Justice NV Ramana and Justice Surya Kant.
"Till 25.08.2021, the concerned authorities are directed to maintain the status quo," the bench said.
Direction for maintaining status quo was passed in light of the submission made by Senior Advocate Colin Gonsalves. The matter will now be heard by the division bench of Justice AM Khanwilkar and Justice Sanjiv Khanna tomorrow.
