NEET-UG 2024 : NTA Approaches Supreme Court Seeking Transfer Of Petition In HC Over Alleged Paper Leak

The Supreme Court on Friday (June 14) issued notice on a transfer petition filed by the National Testing Agency (NTA) seeking to transfer to the Top Court a petition filed before the Delhi High Court alleging paper leak and irregularities in the conduct of NEET-UG exam on May 5, 2024.The vacation bench of Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta tagged the NTA's transfer petition along with other petitions regarding paper leak in NEET-UG 2024, which are posted on July 8.During the hearing, Advocate Vardhaman Kaushik (appearing for the NTA) informed that 3 other transfer pleas have been filed in respect of petitions pending before High Courts on the issue of grace marks. He submitted that those transfer petitions are being withdrawn in view of the decision taken by the authority to revoke the benefit of grace marks, which was recorded in the order passed by the Supreme Court yesterday. The NTA counsel further submitted that the High Court(s) will be informed of the Supreme Court's order on the issue of grace marks.It may be recalled that the NEET-UG 2024 exam was conducted by NTA on May 5 this year. Before and after the results of the exam were declared, several cases came to be filed alleging irregularities and malpractices such as mass-level paper leaks, exam centre manipulations, "arbitrary" grant of grace marks to certain candidates, etc.Insofar as the issue of paper leak, the Supreme Court has issued notice on certain petitions seeking cancellation of the NEET-UG 2024 exam over allegations of paper leak and listed them for hearing on July 8.Yesterday, on the issue of grant of grace marks, the Centre told the Supreme Court that the score cards of 1563 candidates given grace marks will be cancelled and they would be given an option of re-test. If any of such candidates does not choose to re-appear, their result would be declared on the basis of actual scores (without grace marks).Case Details:National Testing Agency v.
