The counsel for the State informed the court that all detainees were returned to their families and that nothing survives in the petitions.

Accordingly, the division bench of Chief Justice Alpesh Y Kogje and Justice Vivek Jain disposed of the petitions, observing that the detainees were "returned to their families".

The counsel for the petitioner in WP No. 42833 of 2026 has claimed that the detenue had "some injuries" on their body and seeks to pursue the issue. The petition claimed that the detenue was assaulted by the police and was detained in a location undisclosed to the family since October 8, 2026.

However, the court observed that the said issue cannot be adjudicated upon in a habeas corpus petition, and granted liberty to the said petitioner to file an appropriate petition.

In the last hearing, the bench had directed the State to produce the said detainees in court and also directed the State to make arrangements for the safe return of the said detainees to their families.

For the Petitioner in WP No. 42833 of 2026: Senior Advocate Prakash Upadhyay with Advocates Shubham Mishra and Hemant Gupta

For the State: Additional Advocate General BD Singh with Government Advocate RD Pararha
