Madhya Pradesh High Court Allows Declaration of NEET UG Results Nation Wide Except For 11 Centres In Indore

The Madhya Pradesh High Court has allowed declaration of NEET UG results for centres across India except 11 centres of Indore which were affected by power outage.In its order dated May 15, the Court had temporarily stayed the declaration of results after no one appeared on behalf Centre.Justice Subodh Abhyankar observed, “On due consideration this Court finds force in the submissions as advanced by Shri Mehta, learned Solicitor General, and is inclined to modify the order passed by this Court on 15.05.2025, to the extent that the respondents may be allowed to declare the results for all the other centres in India, except the affected centres at Indore, in which the power failure was faced by the students, and the details of which shall be furnished by the respondents along with their reply.”A petition was filed by a medical aspirant who recently sat for the 2025 NEET UG examination. The plea alleges malafide and arbitrary action of the respondent no. 1/National Testing Agency & 4/Ilva Higher Secondary School Indore. The plea states that the NTA had organized the examination at centre under control of school that experienced power outages due to mismanagement and lack of power backups for around 1 to 2 hours and students at these centres including the present petitioner had to take the exam by candlelight/using emergency lamps.During the hearing on May 16, the Solicitor General of India Tushar Mehta paryed before the Court for modification of the previous order dated May 15 as the problem which has been faced was in respect of eleven odd centres in the city of Indore only. Therefore, it was prayed that the respondents be allowed to declare the results so far as the other centres in India are concerned.The Counsel further assured the Court that the reply would be filed within two days' time regarding details of the centres affected by power failure.On the contrary, the counsel for the petitioner submitted that if the petitioners are not able to give their examination in time, they would not be able to appear in the counselling also, if they succeed.However, the Court allowed declaration of NEET UG Results for all other centres in India except the affected centres at Indore.The matter is listed for further hearing on May 19.Case Title: Laxmi Devi Vs National Testing Agency And Others, Writ Petition No. 17344 Of 2025Counsel for Petitioner: Advocate Mradul BhatnagarCounsel for Union of India: Solicitor General Tushar Mehta
