    The Journal on Corporate Law & Commercial Regulations (CLCR) is a student -run, double-blind peer reviewed journal, published bi-annually, based at and published from Maharashtra National Law University Mumbai (MNLU M), devoted exclusively to the study of the interface between Corporate and Commercial Law and other cross disciplinary subjects. It is guided by a Student Editorial Board, a Peer Review Panel consisting of expert academicians and a Board of Advisors comprising of veterans in the field.

    We are delighted to invite original and previously unpublished articles, notes, comments, and book reviews on a rolling basis from external contributors until 15th September 2023, for the second edition of our journal.

    Nature of Submissions

    Submissions can be made relating to the fields of -: Companies Law, Competition Law, Taxation, Banking & Finance, Mergers and Acquisitions, Private Equity, Securities Law, Venture Capital, E-Commerce Laws, Foreign Exchange Laws, Contract Law, Property Law, Business Regulations, Commercial Regulations, Insolvency and Bankruptcy, Real Estate Laws, Labour and Employment Laws, and other Cross Disciplinary Subjects.

    CLCR accepts submissions in the following categories:

    1. Articles: An article must be a comprehensive and in-depth analysis of the problem(s) or idea(s) dealt with by the author, and should include references to a range of sources and contributions in the form of alternatives and suggestions. This includes –
    2. Long Articles: 6000 to 10000 words
    3. Short Articles: 2000 to 6000 words

    The word limit is exclusive of footnotes.

    1. Case Comment (1200 to 4000 words) - The comment must be a critical analysis of a recent, bringing out its relevance in light of development of laws, views expressed in the judgment, and views of the author.
    2. Book Review (1000 to 3000 words) - The review must be a crisp and analytical account of a recently published book. We encourage authors to juxtaposition the arguments put forward in the book with other academic or scholarly work, or their critical take on the issue.
    3. Legislative Comment (1000 to 3000 words) – Such comments must analyse a recent legislative enactment, and comprehensively outline the objective and the potential impact of the legislation. Objectivity is encouraged, however personal comments are also welcome.

    The word limit for all the abovementioned categories is exclusive of footnotes.

    Submission Guidelines

    1. Eligibility: We accept submissions from Students enrolled in 5-year or 3-year law courses, Legal Professionals, Teachers, Researchers, Policy-Makers, Senior Academicians or any other members of the legal fraternity.
    2. Co-authorship of entries (maximum 2) among individuals from the same or different institutions is allowed. However, multiple entries from the same author shall not be accepted. In case even if only one of the two authors send two manuscripts, the one sent earlier will be accepted.
    3. Entries should be original, unpublished and non-plagiarised.
    4. The Journal only accepts original articles published by the authors, and, any republication of articles from other journals shall not be accepted in any shape or form. Cross-publication of original CLCR content shall be allowed on the following grounds:
    • Authors include a line before the cross-published text begins, stating, “This article/interview was originally published in the Journal On Corporate Laws & Commercial Regulations (CLCR) on [date: month, day, year],” This line should be present at the top of the cross-published article.
    • No changes or alterations are made to the content of the article as published in the Journal.
    1. Authors are requested to acknowledge and cite their sources and provide appropriate references.
    2. Further, any information revealed in the submission, which comes from a personal conversation with a third party, calls for an explicit written permission from the same.
    3. Submissions will be considered for publication under the stipulation that they refrain from infringing upon the rights of third parties. Furthermore, it is required that the submitted work abstains from incorporating any material of an obscene, offensive, or defamatory nature.
    4. The submitted material should not include the author's name, institutional affiliation, or any other information that could compromise the review process by revealing the author's identity.
    5. Citation Style: Footnotes must be properly cited strictly in accordance with the style guide published on centre’s website. In case, the citation type is not covered in the style guide, the author is requested to rely on Bluebook citation (21th Edition). The Journal recognises that Bluebook citation (21st edition) is not freely accessible, and in such cases, the citation relied upon in authority itself may be accepted.
    6. Speaking footnotes or explanatory parentheticals shall be considered based on the discretion of the editorial board and requirements of the journal. An elaborative guideline for the same shall be released shortly on our official website.

    • Font and size for Footnotes: Times New Roman | 10
    • Line spacing: 1.5
    • Page size: A4
    • Margin - 1' from all sides
    • Alignment: Justified

    Submission

    1. Interested authors must submit an abstract of not more than 200-250 words accompanied by at least 5 keywords. The general submission guidelines shall also govern the abstract submission.
    2. Authors may submit manuscripts in accordance with the above laid down guidelines here.
    3. We accept submissions in doc./dox format. We request the authors to name the Word document with the title of the manuscript.

    Copyright Policy

    1. As a condition of publication, the author acknowledges and grants an irrevocable, transferable, non-exclusive, royalty-free license upon the acceptance of an article for publication by the Journal.
    2. The Journal reserves the unrestricted right to reproduce, publish, and distribute their submission(s) in any and all media, including but not limited to print and any electronic services.
    3. Any submission or part there of published in the journal, on our website, or social media platforms may be published on another forum only after giving due credits and reference to the publication at CLCR.
    4. The Journal may modify or amend this policy at its sole discretion, with reasonable notice provided to authors.

    Editorial Policy

    1. Open Access Policy - All articles published in the Journal would be made available on the Journal’s website without any time limit and free of charge.
    2. Submissions are accepted for publication on the condition that they do not infringe upon the rights of any third party. All submissions will be run through anti-plagiarism software and plagiarism in any form will result in instant rejection of the submission.
    3. After review, manuscripts may be returned to authors suggesting changes to content, style or structure. Acceptance of the piece for publication may be made contingent upon incorporating the suggestions.
    4. Withdrawal of the manuscript must be notified to the team through mail. No withdrawals will be allowed after the author has responded with an acceptance to the confirmation mail by the team.

    Peer Review Process / Acceptance and Publication

    Submission made to CLCR would be scrutinized by the student Editorial Board, wherein the submissions will go through multiple level of review. The First Round consists of a double-blind peer review. The process encompasses two processes: A Plagiarism Check, and a Detailed Review of the manuscript, providing reasons for their decision to accept, reject or accept the manuscript with changes. The review will be bases on the following –

    • Content
    • Citations
    • Novelty
    • Coherence
    • Grammar
    • Research
    • Structure
    • Relevance

    Finally, a consolidated report is sent to our Peer-Review Panel, who will make the final decision on whether the manuscript should be accepted.

    The corresponding author would be informed of the outcome following the review process. Before their papers are published, authors should be prepared to make the necessary revisions the Editorial Board / Peer Review Panel may want.

    Following this, the editors will determine if the author has satisfactorily incorporated the changes suggested by the peer reviewer in the paper. Depending on the editors' discretion, there may be more than one round of edits at this stage. If the editors believe that the relevant changes have not been made to the paper, they may choose to reject it. The final decision regarding the acceptance or rejection of the paper will be communicated to the authors by the editors. Furthermore, if at any stage the paper is rejected, the editorial team will provide the authors

    Conflicts of Interest

    1. Authors are instructed to declare any potential conflicts of interest in order to ensure the process is unbiased and fair.
    2. This includes any association with a member of the Editorial Board, employment, funding etc.
