"Chief Justice Completely Disregarded Representation Of Elders' Committee": Awadh Bar Association To Abstain From Judicial Work From June 14

The Awadh Bar Association of Allahabad High Court's Lucknow Bench has decided to abstain from Judicial Work from June 14 due to grave discontent voiced against the implementation of the present roster.The Chairman of Awadh Bar Association's elders' committee has issued a notice stating that it has decided to abstain from Judicial Work from June 14."Due to grave discontent voiced against the implementation of the present roster followed by popular demand to abstain from judicial work, the Elders' Committee in its meeting has unanimously decided that lawyers of Lucknow High Court and members of the Awadh Bar Association shall abstain from judicial work at Lucknow with effect from 14 June 2021," the notice states.Importantly, the notice also states:"The Chief Justice has completely disregarded the representation made by the Elders' Committee for redressing the grievance of the members of the Bar and withdrawing the roster implemented with effect from 4" June 2021. The members of the Awadh Bar Association shall abstain from judicial work in the Lucknow High Court from Monday, the 14" June 2021."The Allahabad High Court on Friday adjourned its suo moto PIL on Covid-19 management citing 'paucity of time'. This is a third consecutive adjournment of the case which has previously handed down several bold orders amid wrath of the deadly virus in Uttar Pradesh.Following a change in the roster since June 7, a Division Bench of then Acting Chief Justice Sanjay Yadav and Justice Prakash Padia took over the matter. In four days, this Bench has adjourned the case thrice, i.e., on every date of listing being June7, June 8 and June 10.The matter is now likely to be listed next week. Meanwhile, ACJ Yadav has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court vide notification dated June 10.The last substantial order in the case was passed by the Bench of Justices Siddhartha Varma and Ajit Kumar on May 27, where it directed the Central Government to come up with a stand with regard to vaccination of physically challenged persons, who find it difficult to approach the vaccination centres.Click here To Download NoticeRead Notice
