A Delhi Court on Monday remanded former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh's lawyer, Anand Daga and Sub-Inspector Abhishek Tiwari to 14 days judicial custody on the allegations of leaking sensitive information thereby subverting investigation into the corruption case.

Special CBI Judge Vimal Kumar Yadav dismissed the application moved by CBI seeking further police remand for five days qua the duo.

"In these circumstances, when the accused persons have remained in CBI custody for 4 days, there appears no reason to further extend their CBI custody as nothing new showing the nature of data extracted and the confrontation of the same is before the Court. Application stands declined," the Court ordered.

The Court further directed the duo to be produced next on September 20, on the expiry of their judicial custody.

The Court had earlier extended the CBI custody by two days after the agency had sought 7 days additional custody remand for them.

CBI had arrested Daga and Tiwari earlier this week from Mumbai and Delhi respectively. After being produced before a Magistrate's Court in Mumbai, transit remand was given for Daga thereby directing his production before a Delhi Court.

Accordingly, Daga and Tiwari were both produced before the Special CBI Judge of the Rouse Avenue Court on Thursday.

The FIR was registered against Daga, Tiwari and unknown others alleging that they entered into a criminal conspiracy for the purpose of disclosing the case sensitive and confidential documents to Anand Daga in lieu of undue advantage and illegal gratification.

The said FIR has been registered under sec. 120B of IPC and sec. 7 and 8 of Prevention of Corruption Act.
