Contempt Notice: Kerala MLA Najeeb Kanthapuram Tenders Unconditional Apology Before Court

Perinthalmanna MLA Najeeb Kanthapuram on Friday (October 9) appeared through counsel before a Kerala Court and tendered his unconditional apology in a case in which he was issued contempt notice.
The court had issued the notice under Section 2(c)(iii) read with Section 15 of the Contempt of Courts Act, 1971 for obstructing an advocate commissioner from taking possession of a house.
Smt. Saritha Raveendran, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Manjeri recorded:
"Contemner appeared through counsel. Submitted reply statement styled as unconditional apology."
The case is posted to Monday (October 10) for considering the apology.
Section 2(c)(iii) states that the doing of any act that interferes or tends to interfere with, or obstructs or tends to obstruct, the administration of justice in any other manner would amount to criminal contempt.
Section 15 deals with cognizance of criminal contempt.
