Mega Legal Awareness And Empowerment Camp Held In Narmada District Under NALSA Samvad Scheme 2025

The Gujarat State Legal Services Authority (GSLSA) and District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Narmada, organized a Mega Legal Awareness and Empowerment Camp focussing on NALSA (Protection and Enforcement of Tribal Rights) Scheme–now known as the NALSA Samvad Scheme 2025 on April 27. Several dignitaries attended the camp including Supreme Court Justice B.R. Gavai–NALSA's Executive Chairman, who chaired the event. Supreme Court Justices Surya Kant and Vikram Nath also attended the camp along with Gujarat High Court Chief Justice Sunita Agarwal, High Court judges Justice Biren A. Vaishnav, Justice A.S. Supehia, and Justice Niral Mehta. Judges from various High Courts across the Western Zone, members of NALSA, GSLSA Member Secretary Rahul A. Trivedi, District Judge R.T. Panchal, DLSA Secretary S.R. Bateriwala, and District Collector were also in attendance.While delivering the keynote address, Justice Gavai applauded GSLSA's efforts inholding the camp in a tribal-dominated district. While underscoring the important role of legal awareness in empowering citizens to enforce their constitutional rights, he paid tribute to the vision of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar of social and economic equality. Justice Gavai also innaugrated public stalls set up by various government and private agencies aimed at providing essential information and services to the attendees.Supreme Court Justice Surya Kant recalled India's freedom struggle, reinforcing constitutional rights and reaffirming the legal institutions' unwavering commitment to protecting individual rights. Justice Vikram Nath, in his address, commended Gujarat's rich cultural tapestry and emphasized the importance of raising legal awareness among tribal populations through the use of Para-Legal Volunteers (PLVs), local languages, digital platforms, and dedicated helpline services. During the camp, detailed information regarding all ongoing welfare schemes for the tribal community was shared with stakeholders. Gujarat High Court Chief Justice Sunita Agarwal in her address emphasized on the core values of NALSA through its theme song and reiterated the motto of “Access to Justice for All.” She also highlighted the rights of tribal communities, people's trust in the judiciary, and the vision of delivering justice at the doorstep for every citizen.During the event, a local youth group performed the traditional Mewasi Tribal Dance, showcasing the rich and vibrant heritage of the Narmada district. Applauding and recognising their efforts, the GSLSA awarded the Adiwasi Mewasi Vikas Mandal Rs. 51,000.
