Uttarakhand State Legal Services Authority Bids Farewell To Justice Ravi Malimath

The Uttarakhand State Legal Services Authority on Sunday conducted a farewell ceremony for Justice Ravi Malimath, Acting Chief Justice of the Uttarakhand High Court, on his transfer to the Himachal Pradesh High Court. During the programme, Justice Malimath who is also the Executive Chairman of the authority, emphasized on the need to devise a system which can provide necessary legal aid to the common masses. In his welcome note, Member Secretary of the authority, RK Khulbey, recalled the works done and the activities carried out by the Uttarakhand State Legal Services Authority in the field of legal awareness and legal aid during the tenure of Justice Malimath as the Executive Chairman. Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia also praised and informed that under the leadership of Justice Malimath, the legal services institutions have played a vital role in providing basic legal aid and other food utensils to the needy people during the COVID-19 pandemic. Justice Dhulia also praised the tremendous works done by the para legal volunteers during the COVID-19 pandemic. The programme was also attended by Justices Manoj Kumar Tiwari, Sharad Kumar Sharma, Ravindra Maithani and Alok Kumar Verma. Other dignitaries like the Advocate General, Registrar and Registrar General (Uttarakhand High Court) were also present.The Central Government on Thursday notified the appointment of Justice Ravi R. Malimath, presently judge of Uttarakhand High Court, as the Judge of Himachal Pradesh High Court. He began his practice in law in 1987 at the Karnataka High Court. In February 2008, he was made an Additional Judge in the Karnataka High Court and his post became permanent in February 2010. He was transferred to the Uttarakhand High Court on March 5, 2020. Earlier this year, when the then Chief Justice of Uttarakhand High Court retired on 27th July, Justice Malimath was appointed as its Acting Chief Justice.
