CJI Ramana Acts On School Girl's Letter To Restore Bus Services In Telangana Village

The Chief Justice of India NV Ramana's action on a letter sent to him by a Class 8 girl has resulted in the restoration of bus services in a village in the State of Telangana.P Vaishnavi, an eighth standard student in Telangana, wrote a letter to CJI Ramana about the stoppage of the bus services to her village in Rangareddy district in the aftermath of COVID pandemic, as a result of which she and her siblings, Preethi and Praneeth, were facing difficulties in going to school. She therefore requested the CJI to intervene to restore the bus services. She mentioned in the letter that her father had passed away due to cardiac arrest last year during the first wave of COVID and her mother was earning meager income. Hence, to hire auto-rickshaw to go to school was way beyond their means.Taking note of the letter, the CJI brought the attention of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation to the issue. The CJI told the Corporation that the bus services have to be restored to honour the Right To Education of the children. VC Sajjanar, the Managing Director of TSRTC, tweeted that following CJI's intervention, the bus services have been restored. In June, a 5th standard school girl from Kerala had written to the Chief Justice of India thanking the Supreme Court for its orders passed to address the COVID situation.The CJI sent a heart warming reply to the school girl, appreciating her for keeping track of the major developments in the country.
