[LIVE UPDATES] Gujarat Riots Case In SC : 'SIT Did No Investigation' , Sibal Argues Zakia Jafri's Plea Against Clean Chit To Narendra Modi

Sibal : The common element of this conspiracy was, "let teach a lesson". Investigation would have meant probing seizing phones, probing phone records etc.

Sibal : What are the truth what are the lies, these need investigation. The Magistrate not looking at it, the High Court not dealing with it, it puzzles me, to say the least.

Sibal : Kindly see what the Magistrate does? He says there is no direction by the Supreme Court to do further investigation. So he washes his hands off. Neither does he opine anything nor he orders further investigation.

Sibal : All this was being done without any curfew being declared in Ahemdabad. What was the Police Commissioner doing?

Sibal : The 3000 people who had gathered at Sola Civil Hospital, they were swayam sevaks. I can understand if family of deceased had come. How did swayam sevaks arrive? Why was it necessary to message them to arrive early in the morning? No explanation!

Sibal : If you are to accept the statements of the accused without any investigation, then why have an investigation?

Sibal points out that SIT has not filed any SLP in the Supreme Court against the High Court judgment acquitting Maya Kodnani. "It shows!", Sibal says.

Sibal : We say we have empirical evidence, there was coordination, police was taking sides as it happens in communal violence, messages sent to police were not responded..

Sibal : You can't allow communal tension to reach such a stage that violence occurs. This case is not about just this case but about future.

Sibal : Police, instead of taking care of law and order, escorted VHP fellow, who was trying to whip up mass frenzy and who accompanied a mob of 5000 persons in an inflammatory funeral procession.
